The Big One: Your Survival Guide is a podcast from LAist Studios, a podcast production vehicle brought to you by LAist.
The Big One needed a way to help SoCal residents prepare for the anticipated big earthquake. We created a responsive map that allowed users to easily figure out whether they lived on a liquefaction or fault zone. We then plotted the data onto a map with Mapbox and created custom controls using Mapbox’s API.
The data was sourced with the help of Dana Amihere, KPCC/LAist’s Data Editor. For UI/UX, we collaborated with KPCC/LAist’s Product Designer, Stephanie Kraft.
